Drift Tolerant Phase Shift Memory

PCM leverages the resistance change that occurs in the material -- an alloy of various elements -- when it changes its phase from crystalline (low resistance) – to amorphous – featuring high resistance – to store data bits. In a PCM cell, where a phase-change material is deposited between a top and a bottom electrode, phase change can controllably be induced by applying voltage or current pulses of different strengths. These heat up the material and when distinct temperature thresholds are reached cause the material to change from crystalline to amorphous or vice versa.

In addition, depending on the voltage, more or less material between the electrodes will undergo a phase change, which directly affects the cell's resistance. Scientists exploit that aspect use four distinct resistance levels to store the bit combinations "00", "01" 10" and "11".

The scientists implemented an iterative "write" process to overcome deviations in the resistance due to inherent variability in the memory cells and the phase-change materials:

We apply a voltage pulse based on the deviation from the desired level , measure the resistance. If achieved, we apply another voltage pulse and measure again – until we achieve the exact level.

Worst case Performance:10us 100 times slower than flash memory to get the desired resistance.

For demonstrating reliable read-out of data bits,  tackling the problem of resistance drift. Because of structural relaxation of the atoms in the amorphous state, the resistance increases over time after the phase change, eventually causing errors in the read-out.

To overcome that issue, the IBM scientists applied an advanced modulation coding technique that is inherently drift-tolerant.

The modulation coding technique is based on the fact that, on average, the relative order of programmed cells with different resistance levels does not change due to drift.

About the Drift Tolerant cells:

The following advantages of substrate bias in n-channel MOS technology.

Advantages include:

Elimination of substrate injection current from localized forward biasing of diodes, improved speed and power characteristics, and a larger differential data signal on the bit sense lines.

The generator circuit avoids several pit-falls on on-chip V/SUB BB/ generation.  Circuit pumps to a known regulated voltage avoiding substrate drift with changes in substrate current resulting from changes in cycle time.

Drift will change device characteristics and degrade storage levels. A unique two-level reference scheme avoids changes in substrate bias voltage that otherwise result from the shift or back bias

Rising Prices of PETROL (Sorry for going out of the way and posting an idea of my OWN)

with ever increasing prices of PETROL i am worried if i will be able to get a JOB in the forthcoming days because for that i will need to study and for that i need to live

well PETROL prices cannot be controlled depend on INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

But atleast its usage can be controlled .

Very simple and secure methods such as using meters attached to vehicles can monitor the travel versus efficiency of the vehicle.

PETROL price must vary from vehicle to vehicle , person to person

Decidedly on the use , this wuld control increase of prices of other commodities atleast.

Last but not the least will try edit this post later to enter a block diagram and other possibile infos

WISHING EVERYBODY A PETROL FREE LIFE to GROW RICH this dream would come true in a few years atleast if not now for those who need to survive.

Application of Common Sense

An idea in a technology Blog Forgive me :)

Local Railway stations- Extra Local trains would be required thanks to the long counter during the peak hours.

we do have electronic counters But everybody does not own a Rail card and these too are not very efficient.

One method is to update the server located at the station master's room by sending an sms

No possibility of terrorism because all mobile phones have a unique serial number.
If some people do not have may be the interested government can pay a tax to the mobile phone company and grant the person a serial-number.
Taxing the individual a little more.

Basic Requirements:
Blue tooth.
Signature for every mobile.
Back-up battery.
A server which recognises the mobile phones assigns them a signature does the transaction and sends a ticket code to the mobile phone

or one other way would be the serial number of original mobile phones.

Furthering this can also be applied for various other consumer purposes ranging from metropolitan transport

Normal bluetooths can be used But you have clever hacking codes scattered online.

OR may be you can send a message at the rate of the ticket to the mobile number of the station master and he sends you back a ticket code.

Strange applications ...Enhanced Memorial Products

The feel good factor feeling of uploading my blog after a year :)
first my humble wishes to those suffering due to the Japanese Tsunami

Near-Field Communications

“enhanced memorial products” by Arizona company Objecs that add Near Field Communications tags to cemetery markers, allowing DATA to be “embedded” in a headstone and retrieved whenever a cell phone is touched against its surface , known as monumental tecchnology introduced in NORTH AMERICA.

Inductive coupling technology used in wallet phones that allows complex information sharing at the expense of practically no electrical energy used here.

Objecs, which specializes in “object hyperlinking,” or assigning a Web-based presence to real world objects, sells two products. One is called RosettaStone, which is a palm-sized stone tablet; the other is Data Tag, which adheres directly to headstones. In good outdoor conditions, the company says the Personal RosettaStone should be readable for as much as 300 years.

TUNE YOUR EQUIPMENTS ENERGY EFFICIENCY

LAS VEGAS--You can now use muscle power to charge your electronics. Easy Energy at CES 2010 showed off the YoGen hand charger which is now available for $40. When you pull the string, it turns a mini flywheel that produces a steady stream of power--up to five watts--for small portable devices. One minute of pulling is enough to charge a cell phone, according to the company. The company is adapting the same flywheel alternator technology for a pedal-powered laptop, called the YoGen MaxT which is still under development.

CES 2010's Sustainable Planet zone featured a number of solar chargers and other small-scale solar-powered devices, such as garden lights, flash lights, and camping lanterns. Here are a number of options from MiniWiz, including a charger for AA batteries. In the foreground on the right is MiniWiz's HyMini, a wind power device that can be attached to bicycle to charge an internal battery with a USB port.

Most small-scale solar chargers are mainly geared for off-grid use although they can be used at home for daily use. Regen in June is releasing a solar charging system that's really been designed for home use. Each solar charger features a 6-watt panel and an integrated battery with USB port. It also includes a suction cup for hanging the small table in a window and stick for tilting it toward the sun on a table. The company plans to offer an optional docking station, which can provide a read-out of available charge in the battery. It also showed off docking stations that have a built-in iPod attachment and speakers for music and one with an LED light which acts as a desk lamp.

ARTIFICIAL MAGNETIC HEART

WELL...FRIENDS heres the eight wonder ....a monument on the sands of medical sciences....well i will not be taxing your time too much just read on...

Human body is complex and most complex in it are the BRAIN & HEART ...ones failure would lead to the thers failure shortly....

brain failure is tough and its connection with electronics is little known to me coming to heart failue which is the result of fequent heart attacks after which the heart is rendered useless..at such times heart transplant or the installation of the pacer is the only grain...but doing this on a kid below 5 years is a tough job thats where ARTIFICIAL MAGNETIC HEART comes to help it is still under research here a pacer is installed in the victims body...the pro is that it does நாட் require any wires to be controlled by a computer ,No it is not battery ஐதர் operated either then ...????

well this is how it is pacer is made out of material sensitive to magnetic field due to which it is possible to control it by huge magnets placed around the victims body which produce a magnetic field which controls the moment of the artificial magnetic heart...the basic idea behind this lies in imagining all blood vessels connecting to heart as pipes and the blood flowing through it as fluid with viscosity determined by experiments thus control systems plays a vital role in this innovation....any suggestions ...ideas...pointing of errors will be acknowledged
